gagglefrak is a blog about science fiction — books, movies, and television — comic books, video games, zombies, Joss Whedon, Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Terminator, time travel, and sometimes real-life weird science and/or cool technology. Hang around, and you’ll find reviews about things that have already released and teasers about things that are releasing in the future. You’ll even find an original sci-fi web comic.
Where did “gagglefrak” come from?
During the Battlestar Galactica panel at the 2008 New York Comic Con, the moderator asked whether or not the actors felt limited by only being able to use one curse word — frak. Sci-Fi Channel programming exec Mark Stern’s response was: “The thing is, they’ve done SO much with that word, it’s almost like, beyond. I just was reading a script the other day that had ‘gagglefrak’ in it. Gagglefrak. Okay, I think you’re done, if you’re at gagglefrak.” We weren’t told what it meant, but the word instantly captured my imagination. My best guess at a meaning would be “clusterfuck” … but the word “clusterfrak” was used in the third episode of the season, so maybe not.
