First, let me just say, quite unapologetically, that I actually LIKED the Enterprise TV show. I know that’s not a popular opinion among either Star Trek or general sci-fi fans. And I’m not saying it was a perfect show, by any means. But I still enjoyed it every week, and was sad when it got prematurely canceled. In fact, a few weeks ago, I tivoed the last half of the final season, and got sad all over again, because I really thought those episodes were pretty strong.
Except for the very last one. The series finale. Which I got pissed at all over again. So I chuckled when I ran across this short interview with Brannon Braga — who produced and wrote that episode, and who is finally will to fess up that yes, “it didn’t turn out as well as [he] hoped … it was kind of a lackluster story.” According to Braga, “At the time I thought it was very cool, it was only when it came out, I realized, ‘this isn’t quite working.'” Gee, you think?
After a short run on the big screen, My Name is Bruce on DVD hits the shelves today. For those who haven’t heard about this latest project from the star of the Evil Dead movies, it’s basically Three Amigos meets Bruce Campbell.
I didn’t get a chance to see it in the theater myself, but the reviews from those who did seem to agree that if you’re a Bruce Campbell fan, you’ll love its campy, self-mocking brilliance … if not, you may find it stupid. As a BC fan from way back, I just placed my order with Amazon.com this morning. Gotta support The Chin, baby!

1)The Watchmen movie is going to ROCK! We got to watch the first 18 minutes of the movie, as well as a 30 second scene from somewhere in the middle, and I have to say, any reservations I might have had this time last year were completely dispelled. Just as he did with 300, Zach Snyder has done a fantastic job of making this film look and feel like a comic book brought to life. And in this case, it’s almost as if he’s used the comic pages themselves as the storyboards, duplicating panels down to the last detail. Dave Gibbons himself was there to talk about it, and it was clear that he couldn’t have been more thrilled with what Snyder had done with the material. March 6th can’t come soon enough.
Over at The List Universe, they’ve been bold enough to post a list of what they consider the “Top 15 Great Science Fiction Books”. And I have to say, I agree with most of these. Click through to read what they have to say about each one, then come back and tell me which books you think are missing. My own thoughts about each book in this list can be found below.
First off, let me just say that by now, I’m sick to hell of just about every entertainment media outlet harping on the “fact” that FOX is “killing” Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse by “burying” them on Friday night. We get it already! Personally, I’m not even convinced it’s true. The X-Files did just fine on Fridays, and that was in a time before DVRs. And even if it is true, the media’s need to repeat this over and over has begun to sound more like wishing and less like observation.
With that out of the way, check out this cool new Grindhouse-style commercial FOX has released to advertise its “doomed” new Friday night “death slot” …

And for the LOL-Heroes, first place was split (at 6 votes each) between Dick In a Box and MacGruber, and third place went to Petr Is All Mad Bout Invisible Fish Hook (with 4 votes).
